If you spend time connecting to your machines with SSH, here is a tool that will get your interest. Called ET for Eternal Terminal (and not Extraterrestrial), this shell is installed on the client and on the server (port 2022) and allows you to reconnect to your session without interruption.
Unlike typical SSH sessions, the ET sessions will survive a network outage or an IP address change. Inspired by Mosh, SSH and AutoSSH, Eternal Terminal uses SSH for linking and encryption and supports the tmux "control" mode, which allows you to have windows, tabs and scrollbars in your terminal .
Eternal Terminal is therefore reserved for impatients who want to be able to get back on their feet straight after a break or for admins working in a chaotic environment with frequent disconnections or frequent IP changes.
To install ET on Ubuntu, here are the commands:
sudo apt-get install -y software-properties-common sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jgmath2000/et sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install et
Et si vous êtes sous macOS, vous pouvez utiliser la commande Brew :
brew install MisterTea/et/et
